Ethical Considerations
The Research Lab in Applied Communication assumes an ethical responsibility in relation to the impact of its research on society and scientific knowledge.
Our approach differs from commercially driven research to subtly or unconsciously influence consumer behavior, or to raise ethical concerns, especially with regard to the impact on privacy and human and consumer rights. We believe that effective communication must not compromise the imperative to protect the privacy of consumers and citizens, and to respect international ethical standards, such as the GDPR data protection regulations.
At LICA we apply strict ethical standards, promoting transparency and public engagement, informed consent and the proper management of conflicts of interest to prevent harm.
This commitment to ethics and responsible communication aims not only at the production of quality scientific knowledge, but also at promoting a society that is more informed and aware of the implications of emerging technologies.
ICNOVA's scientific research thus differentiates itself from practices that can exploit consumer vulnerabilities without due regard for ethical impacts.
